The range of variation

>lifespan mosquitoes:mosquitoes live for a few days whereas cow,dog etc live for many years.

>Colour: some organisms like cow,horse,dogs etc are white in colour but some birds and flowers are brightly coloured

>Size:some organisms are so small that we cannot see them with naked eye but eucalyptus tree is several metres tall.

The examples of range variation -

(i) Variation in size -

The bacteria and other microorganisms are so small in size that they cannot be seen through naked eyes. They can be seen under a microscope. Whereas blue Whale is 30 m and the redwood trees of California are 100 m.

(ii) Variation in lifespan -

The insects like fruit flies live for a few hours, while some trees like pine live for thousand years.

(iii) Variation in body colour -

Some living organisms are colourless, whereas birds, insects, animals, flowers are all colourful.
