The constitution makers thought that the castes which were socially secluded needed to prosper and thus they put reserved constituencies .
In a reserved constituency, only the person from that specific caste is eligible to participate.
Ex. In lok sabha, 71 constituencies are reserved for SC , and only a person from Social Caste is eligible.
Similarly, they thought that the women also needed a chance in politics, so they reserved 1/3 of any constituency for women.
The proportion seats reserved depends upon that constituency.
