here's the solution^_^
AB+BC=AC
3y-1+7y=29
3y+7y=29+1
10y=30
y=3......(dividing by 10)

substituting the value of 'y'
AB=3y-1
=3(3)-1
=9-1
=8
therefore AB=8 .....proved

Answer:

AB + BC = AC

3y - 1 + 7y = 29

10y - 1 = 29

10y = 29 + 1 = 30

y = 30/10 = 3

AB = 3(3) - 1 = 9 - 1 = 8
