Reason why Mendel chose two traits for his experiments:

For his experiment Mendel chose characters that had two alternative appearance or traits. He kept the traits of each one separately and counted the appearance of different traits if each “character among every individuals in every generations”. For this reason, he had chosen 7 contrasting forms of pea plant with two different traits.
