Growth is not a defining property of living organisms because
1.non living organisms also grow
ex:-rocks and dead organisms etc
growth in them is due to accumulation of dirt and other matter..
hence non living organisms also grow so growth is not considered as defining property

Since non living things like mountain , boulders , sand mounds shows increase in Mass and height due to accumulation of material on them and cell division can be seen in vitro culture...
