Hi

Here is your answer,

Kossel and Lewis approach to chemical bonding was based on the inertness of noble gases. Inertness of noble gases is due to the (2 electrons  inits outermost shell) . Atoms of all other elements have less then eight electrons in their outermost shell , hence they are reactive chemically.

Lewis postulated that atoms achieve the stable octet when they are linked by chemical bonds. Atoms combine with one another in a number of different ways , by transference of electrons . Example :- In case of sodium and chlorine, a chemical bond is formed by the transfer of an electron from sodium to chlorine.

Hope it helps you!

Heyaa folk,

Compounds with ionic bonds have two constituents. These are a cation (positively charged ion) and anion (negatively charged ion). They take part in chemical reactions, independently. The cationic radicals are also called basic radicals. Andon the other hand, the anionic rasicals are called as acidic radicals.

The characteristics of a compound formed by ionic bonds is that its moleculehas two parts. Theseare cation and anion. And they're oppositely charged. The force attraction between them constitutes the ionic bond.

The name of ionic compound has two names. Cation and anion. For example, while writing formula of a compound Sodium chloride the symbol of cation is written on left and adjoined to it on the right is the symbol of the anion. The charges are not shown though the numbwr of ions is written as a subscript on the right of the symbol of the ion.

Hope it helps u :)
