Hampi lies on the banks of the Tungabadra river and was an important centre for the trade of spices and cotton. Traders visited Hampi to pursuit trade activities. The walls of Hampi were constructed and fortified well. The technique used, ensured that no cementing agent or motor was used and hence it was interlocked and held together firmly. The building's inside this royal complex had magnificent domes and arches. The sculptures were held within pillared halls. Hampi was well protected with fortifications and a mighty and huge army.
