If a , b are two numbers and h , l are

their HCF and LCM then

h × l

Here ,

a = 36 , b = 48 ,

h = 12 , l = ?

h × l = a × b

l = ( a × b )/h

l = ( 36 × 48 )/12

l = 36 × 4

l = 144

Therefore ,

LCM ( 36 , 48 ) = 144

Answer:

12. (HCF of 48 and 36).

Step-by-step explanation:

HCF refers to the highest common Factor.

When taking HCF of more than 2 numbers,

For 3 numbers, the HCF of 3 numbers a,b,c  is HCF(a,b,c) = HCF[hcf(a,b), c].

In this case, HCF of 2 numbers say 'a' and 'b' is 48  and another 2 numbers, say 'c' and 'd' which give a HCF of 36.

Lets take a = 48 and b = 96. which would satisfy this case.(Use any other numbers which are multiples of 48 to confirm). The HCF of these two is 48.

Lets take c = 36 and d =72 (multiples of 36).

HCF(a, b, c, d) = [HCF(a, b), HCF(c, d)] =HCF[48, 36] = 12.

Can also write HCF(a, b, c, d) = [HCF(a, b), HCF(c, d)] = [HCF(a, c), HCF(b, d)] = [HCF(a, d), HCF(b, c)]
