Note that it’s more natural to say ‘in class’ rather than ‘in the class’.

You could also say ‘in the classroom’, but the meaning is not exactly the same. ‘In class’ means ‘while the lesson was in progress’, while ‘in the classroom’ is only a location, with no indication of whether a lesson was in progress or not.
