This is used in the breaking of the bonds between the atoms of ice and thus this is called latent heat of fusion

so , this does.'nt descreases or increases overall temperature of the ice cubes

Yes heat energy is absorbed during the transformation of ice into waterand water into vapour and this hiddenheat which is absorbed during transformation is called latent heat . The amount of the Heat Energysupplied at a constant temperature when Ice will change to water is called the Latent heat of Melting.
