in the following food chain 20,000 joule of energy was available to plants how much energy would be available to man in the following food chain
plants -> sheep-> man..

In the given food chain, plants form the first trophic level and they harness energy by the process of photosynthesis and a percentage of this energy(10%) gets transferred to each of the next trophic levels.

The plants can't use the entire energy available to them as about 99% of the energy gets reflected from leaves and other plant surfaces.

So, plants can use 1% of this energy, which is( 1/100)*20000 = 200J

10% of this energy gets transferred to sheep, which is 20J and then 10% of this energy gets transferred to humans, which is 2J.
