The materials which are used to make heating wires have a very high melting point, the most commonly used material to make heating wires is Nichrome; it is an alloy of nickel and chromium. A fuse wire is used as a safety device in an electrical circuit.

Answer:
Short ans— Not preferable.
Properties of fuse wire-
- Should have low melting point
- Should have very less or No resistance
- Easy to break when hot
Properties of Nichrome wire-
- Have Very high melting point
- Have high resistance
- Doesn't break easily (it becomes red hot and sustain for very long) because of high melting point
Now What is fuse? - It breaks when current flows above specified limit. So for domestic fuse where current requirement is low <20 Amps, if fuse made with Nichrome wire then it should be extremely thin in order to melt it and break also that extreme thin wire will add significant resistance, thus it cant be used
But yes, for very high current requirement >100 Amps Nichrome can be an option.
