The British Government’s decision to abolish the Corn Laws. - :
- After the abolition of the Corn Laws, food could be imported into Britain more cheaply than it could be produced within the country.
- Due to this, farmers did not grow corn, leaving the land uncultivated. This resulted in unemployment on a large scale and the people started migrating from England to America and Australia looking for work.
Corn Law was abolished, food could be imported into Britain cheaply.

➡️(i) Abolishing of Corn laws in England led to import of food more cheaply in Britain.
➡️(ii) British agriculture was unable to compete with cheap imports and vast lands were left uncultivated, rendering thousands of men and women jobless. They flocked to cities or migrated overseas.
➡️(iii)Higher incomes due to industrialisation in England led to more food imports and greater food production in Eustern Earope, Russia, America and Australia.♣️
