We are aware of that the majority of the Earth is covered by water. So, when light rays strike the water, they get reflected back. The blue colour of water gets reflected on a straight line and so we see from any angle, the colour of the sky as blue. During sunset, the light ray (blue) gets scattered out and away from the line of sight.

*In ancient belief, it was believed that the colour of sky is blue because the sky has been strecthed far away.
