The water loss from stomata creates a suction pull, transpiration creates suction pull that pull water through xylem.

because of transpiration of water through leaves
a negative hydrostatic pressure is created and water is pulled upwards
also because of positive root pressure or positive hydrostatic pressure the movement of water occurs in upward direction.
