Given :

To Find :

The Basic Price of Washing Machine

Solution :

Let the price of Washing Machine = Rs 100

GST on Machine = 8%

GST Amount :

$\star \sf \: 8\% \: of \:Rs \: 100$

$\implies \sf \: \dfrac{8}{100} \times 100$

$\large \boxed{ \sf \:Rs \: 8}$

Total money paid for machine = Rs(100+8) = Rs 108

If the price paid for a machine is Rs 108,then cost price of machine = Rs 100

If the price paid for a machine is Rs 1 ,then cost price of machine =

$\sf \implies \: \dfrac{100}{108}$

If the price paid for a machine is Rs 13530,then cost price of machine =

$\sf \implies \: \dfrac{100}{108}\: \times 13530$

$\therefore \sf \: Cost \: price \: of \: machine \\ \large \boxed{ \sf \: Rs \: 12527.8} \sf \: (approx)$

Alternative Method :

Let price of the machine before GST was added br Rs x

Now,

$\star \rm \: Cost \: price + GST =Rs \: 13530$

$\hookrightarrow \sf \: x + 8\% \: of \: x = Rs \: 13530$

$\hookrightarrow \sf \: x + \dfrac{8}{100} \times x = Rs \: 13530$

$\hookrightarrow \sf \: \dfrac{108x}{100} = Rs \: 13530$

$\hookrightarrow \sf \: x = Rs \dfrac{13530 \times 100}{108}$
