Life without friends is hard to imagine, as we humans are "social animals". Good friends are essential part of life. They show us our flaws, and show us the path to overcome them. They make sure we never give up and focus on our strengths. Often they introduce us to new worlds. And most importantly, we can choose them, unlike our relatives.
That said, life without friends will be hard. With no one to share our feelings with, there is a high chance of going into depression. A crucial fact to note here is the definition of friend is subjective. Our father can also be our friend. So if you think you can always share your brother, then he essential is your friend. Healthy competition is important for us to grow and succeed. Without friends, all that's left is bitter rivalry. That can lead to resentment towards other humans. Resulting in an utter failure in communicating with other humans and working in team. A person with no friends can hope little from others, weather it's emotional support or financial. Even great minds like Newton had at least one great friend, even though they were socially awkward and bad with people. That one friend helped him become the greatest mind not just of his time, but arguably of all times.
