Step-by-step explanation:

Let the shorter side =x m

diagonal of the rectangle =x+16 m

Longer side =x+14 m

∴(AB)² +(BC)² =(AC)²

∴(x+14)² +x² =(x+16)²

⇒x² +28x+196+x² =x²

+32x+256

⇒x² +x² −x²

+28x−32x+196−256=0

⇒x² −4x+60=0

⇒x² −10x+6x−60=0

⇒x(x−10)+6(x−10)=0

⇒(x−10)(x+6)=0

Hence, x=10 or −6

x=−6 is not admissible

So, x=10

Breadth of rectangle =10 m

Length of rectangle =10+14=24 m

Answer:

GivenLet length of first parallel side XLength of other parallel side is X – 14Area of trapezium= 216 m2Let Height (h) =12 mWe know that area of trapezium is× (sum of parallel sides) × heightTherefore Area of trapezium is× (X – 14 +X) × 12 =216 m2.× (X – 14 +X) × 12 =216⇒× (2X – 14) × 12 =216⇒ 2X – 14 =⇒ 2X – 14 = 36⇒2X = 36 + 14 =50⇒X = 25... length of the parallel sides is X=25 cm and X — 14 = 25 – 14 = m.Therefore lengths of the parallel sides are 25 m, 11 m.
