what will happen if the motion of the earth around the sun is not a periodic??

The reason is that the Earth is tilted so that it is not at right angles to the plane of the ecliptic (the plane in which all the planets, except Pluto, rotate around the Sun). Because of this the direct rays of the Sun fall on different parts of the Earth at different times of the year.
