Answer:

Plaster of Paris is a quick-setting gypsum plaster consisting of a fine white powder called calcium sulfate hemihydrate  which hardens when it is  moistened and allowed to dry. Plaster of Paris is so called because of its preparation from the abundant gypsum was found near Paris. It is created by heating gypsum crystals, a soft mineral made of calcium sulphate dihydrate, to turn them into a dry powder.
