Also, the smaller sides will lie opposite to the smaller angles.

solution:

In the given figure:

In ∆AOB,

=> angleB < angleA

=> OA < OB --------(1)

Also,

In ∆COD,

=> angleC < angleD

=> OD < OC --------(2)

Now, adding inequations-(1) and (2)

We get;

=> OA + OD < OB + OC

=> AD < BC

Hence proved.
