REAL IMAGES:
- It is formed when actual intersection of rays takes place.
- It is always inverted.
- It can be obtained on a screen.
- For ex. The projector projects a real image on the white screen, the image is made to appear erect by our brain.
VIRTUAL IMAGES :
- No actual intersection of rays taken place.
- It is always erect.
- It cannot be obtained on a screen.
- For ex. The image formed in the mirror cannot be obtained on a screen.

real image is formed when the rays of light after reflection or refraction actually meet at some point whereas a virtual image is formed when the rays of light after reflection or refraction appear to meet at a point.
