=> x = 74 - y
2x + 4y = 196 __(2)
Substituting x = 74 - y in __(2)
2(74 - y) + 4y = 196
=> 148 -2y +4y = 196
=> 4y -2y = 196 - 148
=> 2y = 48
=> y = 48/2
=> y = 24
Putting y = 24 in __(1)
