Britishers supressed Revolt of 1857 by useing their large and advanced millitary . Revolt of 1857 was not supported by many indian rulers and this was a advantage for them. The main centres of revolt are meerut,Delhi, Lucknow,kanpur and central india. In meerut sephais revolted and they marched to delhi where they declared Bahadur shah the mughal emperor as leader. But later sir john nicholson attacked and he captured delhi again. Bahadur shah was imprisoned to Yangon. In Lucknow revolt was led by begum hejrat mahal . Britishers recaptured Lucknow in march 1858 and hajrat mahal fled to nepal. In Kanpur revolt was led by nana saheb but he surrendered in June 1857. He fled to nepal and his general tantiya tope fledto kalpi. At jhansi revolt was led by rani Lakshmi bai in June 1857. Sir huge rose seiged jgansi fort in 1858. She fled to Gwalior where se died during fight. After the defeat of this leaders British rule was re established in July- December 1858.
