inspite of aravallis many parts of Rajasthan receives less rainfall because aravallis lie parallel to it so they are able to stop rain bearing winds and only let dry winds enter Rajasthan

its is because malbar cost lies on windward side and coromandel lies on lee ward side so ....

as it receives rainfall from western disturbances, monsoon, local winds (cold)

Mawsynram reicives more rainfall then shilong because its on the windward side and moreover the funnel shape arrangement of garo khasi jainta hills trap the rain bearing winds

ryan567: sorry if any spelling mistakes

(a) Arravali mountain lies parallel to monsoon wind that's why it is not able to stop the monsoon wind and the monsoon wind escape from there and winds not shed any moisture there. so Rajasthan get no benefit from arravali and receives less rainfall. ( b) Malabar coast lies in windward side of monsoon wind and coromandel cost lies in leeward side of monsoon winds. That's why malabar coast recives more rainfall. ( c) punjab receives rain from three sources 1. Monsoon winds 2. Retreating monsoon winds and 3. Western disturbance or Jet stream. ( d) Mawsynram is located between khasi jantia hills and this hills traps monsoon winds and which causes heavy rainfall and makes mawsynram highest rainfall receiving areain world. Shillong lies in leeward side and receives less rainfal. Mark this as brainelist.
