What reasons are given by Prince of Arragon to choose the silver casket?

The inscripition on the silver casket gained the attention of prince of arragon . He thought that he will also get as much as he deserves . He said that this motto is certainly a sound because one cannot cheat fortune and attain honourable position without giving sufficient merit . Then he gives a speech on how he wishes that officers should be given ranks on the basis of their merits . He at last says that he will take the silver casket for he is ths man of merit deserving success in his enterprise. And then he asks for the keys of the casket in order to unlock it .
