Hi, someone tell me why HNO3 oxidizes every element it reacts with? And what are the products formed, other than Magnesium and Manganese.

HNO3 is a good oxidising agent and whenever it reacts with some metal it oxidise the H2 produced.

Thus forming water or H2O.

The products formed are

Metal nitrate + water

Hope it helps

VSK2353: but what is the reason of being a good oxidizing agent?
Gatha3: Because it formes nascent oxygen on decomposition
Gatha3: 2HNO3(cons.)>>>> On heating
Gatha3: Gives 2NO+ 2H2O+3O
Gatha3: Hope it helps
VSK2353: oh ok
