Explanation ⇒ Calorific value means the amount of the energy released when 1 grams of the Substances is combusted. It is the basic property to check the basic properties of different substances. It is used to check the efficiency of the fuels.

This is because, if the energy released will be more when 1 gram of the fuel is burnt easily, which is due to its higher Calorific Values.

The Work load of many Industries have been reduced by knowing the exact knowledge of the Calorific value.

For Hydrocarbons, especially Alkanes, It decreases as we move down there homologous series.
