1 overarm bowling became legal and due to this protective equipments came into force as the cricketer might get hit with the ball
2 rule of wide ball was applied

During the 17th and 18th century, cricket was at its primitive stage. In 19th century there were drastic changes in cricket with regard rules and regulations as well as cricket equipments. The three changes are as ;

1.  The concept of wide ball as extra ball was applied.

2.  The exact circumference of the ball was fixed.

3.  Protective cricket equipments like gloves and pads were introduced for the first time in cricket.
