Transverse wave can be polarized , which means we can makes light waves travel only in one plane , it allows vibrations in one plane

longitudinal waves cannot be polarized

Transverse waves can travel through the vacuum also , light and some of the electromagnetic waves can travel without a medium and they belong to transverse waves

longitudinal waves cannot travel without a medium it means it cannot travel in space
