The Himalayas act as a natural barrier between two climatic regions, India and Central Asia.

The Himalayas prevent the cold and dry winds of Central Asia from entering into India.

The Himalayas also act as physical barrier for rain bearing south-west monsoon winds to cross the northern frontiers of India.

As the Himalyas are seperating India and Central Asia both climatically and phsically they are called the climatic divide

hope this helps !☺

himalayas are so termed because the high wall of the himalayas along with its eastern and western offshots act as an effective climatic barrier. It protects the South asian region from the cold and chilly inds originating near the arctic circle which blow over central asia. Thus the himalayas save the south asaian countries from the severity of cold during winter and checks moisture laden monsoon winds during summer and helps in bringing plenty of rainfall. If there were no himalayas the climate of this region would have been hoty and dry during summer and cold and dry during winter.
