Himalayas play a vital role in India's development:-
Himalayas are situated in northern part and runs north west to north east. These are formed as northern barriers which protects from foreign invasions. As the birthplace of many perennial rivers, it has been playing active role in Indian agriculture.
Perennial rivers bring silt and humus and deposit in shallow alluvial plains. These are not only providing water for agriculture, domestic purposes and industrial use but also playing a key role in producing hydro electricity.
Northern plains are the most productive areas in India as they could yield productivity in three agricultural seasons as they have plenty of water.
Himalayas are obstructing cold winds which blow from Central Asia. As this region have high peaks, it checks rain causing winds and receives India's highest rainfall in the regions of Mysanram and Chirapunji.
Due to very cold climate, various types of fruits like apples, peaches, etc are grown. Though it is covered by huge mass of ice,it also has evergreen forest i.e., alpine forest.
This region is also playing active role in Indian tourism as it has beautiful valleys and hill stations.
