Many saints of this region focused on the Bhakti of Lord Vitthala (form of Lord Vishnu) in the temple at Pandharpur. They also believed in the idea that god resides in the hearts of all the people. The saints in Maharashtra did not believe in ritualism and caste system.Their teachings proved to be a big support for people. Their work created self-confidence among the people of Maharashtra. They taught the true meaning of religion. They showed the path of devotion by living amongst people and sharing their joys and sorrows.
