yes today is ambedkar jayanti.
it is celebrated to commemorate the memory of B.R ambedkar's b day who was born on 14th April.

There are two festivals today....

1:. Ambedkar Jayanthi

2:. Tamil ugadhi..... also called (vershaparupu).
