We can determine age of fossils by two method
1) By digging(RELATIVE METHOD) : fossils which are found near the earth's crust are said to be more recent and the fossils which are found deep inside the earth are said to be older.
2) By carbon dating : All the living organisms contain some carbon -14 atoms which are radioactive. When an organism die and forms fossils , its carbon -14 radioactivity goes on decreasing. IN this method we we compare the carbon 4 radioactivity left in fossil with the carbon 14 radioactivity present in living organism today.
