Grains are stored in jute bags or metallic bins. Granaries and silos are used forlarge-scale storage of grains. This protects the grains from pests like insects and rodents. Vegetable and fruits are stored at a low temperature of −10°C to −18°C in cold storage, where growth of microorganisms is completely inhibited.
