How are oxygen and carbon dioxide transported in human beings ?how are lungs desinged to maximise the area for exchange of gases?

when the human being inhales the air present in the atmosphere it travels through trachea and reach the brochioles which seprates the oxygen and carbon dioxide then it goes an organelle (i forgetted the name) after that the oygen was mixed with blood strem

oxygen n carbon die oxide r transported by the oxygen n carbon die oxide cycle .Like plants inhales the Co2 n exhales the O2 while humans inhale oxygen n exhales Co2. In this way the cycles goes on . And the lungs are designed in this way that they get swollen n get flattered when we exhale .
