The protein fiber of silk is composed mainly of fibroin and is produced by certain insect larvae to form cocoons. The best-known silk is obtained from the cocoons of the larvae of the mulberry silkworm Bombyx mori reared in captivity (sericulture).

Explanation:

1.Cocoons are collected and kept under the sun, or boiled, or exposed to steam. This helps in separating out the silk fibres. The process by which silk thread is separated from the cocoon is called reeling the silk. 2.Then, the spinning of silk fibres into threads is done.
