Every action we do with mind (thinking ), body (seeing, listening, feeling, actions) and mouth (words) leading to karma (good or bad) which in turn leads to our re-birth.

Therefore we have to do good deeds and only good to shorten our journey, life after life in many forms which is a suffering.

To let go suffering we need to let go our greed (for everything), which is not easy.

By doing meditation you will be able to tame your uncontrollable mind to realize how to let go your greed.

When you let go of your greed and realize truth you will attain “Nibbana” which is a state whereby you end your rebirth and suffering.

Load Buddha has attained Nibbana and no more in existence in any form. Only his teachings remain with us to find the path towards truth.

I am a Sri Lankan Bhuddhist and this is the core belief of Buddhism as I understand. There's a vast amount of Buddha’s teaching around above in order to understand truth as laymen.

Explanation:

Buddha's most important teachings, known as The Four Noble Truths, are essential to understanding the religion. Buddhists embrace the concepts of karma (the law of cause and effect) and reincarnation (the continuous cycle of rebirth). Followers of Buddhism can worship in temples or in their own homes.
