how can a nettle sting a person even though it is very soft?

Though Nettle is soft ...but it has many hair like structures which may get insert in our fingers and releases irritating compound .. by which we feel very pain on our fingers......

Because nettle has small surface area , the amount of pressure will also be small which is enough to sting in the skin .
