Addition reaction involves addition of H2 to unsaturated hydrocarbon in presence of Nickel catalyst when they are heated. it gives saturated hydrocarbon.

Hydrogenation of oil: Vegetable oil like ground nut oil which is liquid at room temperature undergoes addition reaction and gives vegetable ghee or dalda.
vegetable oil contains unsaturated fatty acids which are good for our health.
