So now it would be,

= \frac{-cos^{2}x}{-sin^{2}x}

Minus Minus will get cancel so it will be

= \frac{cos^{2}x}{\\sin^{2}x}

Now we know that,

\frac{cosx}{sinx}  = cotx ---(trignometric-ratio)

So.

= \frac{cos^{2}x}{\\sin^{2}x} = cot^{2} x

Hence Proved.
