how can we say that Ashoka was a unique ruler

The most important reason is that: In the war of kalinga when millions of people were died then he went to renunciation(sanyass). Ashokawas a king of the mauryan empire . He wasa unique ruler because he defeated many rulersbut his last war that is in kalinga war ,after a feirce battle he defeated them.
