How dessert plant perform photosynthesis through their stomata remain closed during daytime?

The stomata of desert plants such as cacti remains closed during daytime so as to reduce transpiration or loss of water. For photosynthesis, they take in CO2 during nighttime and prepare an intermediate which is acted upon by the energy absorbed by the chlorophyll during the day.
