Answer:

The british had started as traders. Their items were cheaper but of low quality as they were factory made goods. On the other hand in the craft industries of India the goods were made by hand so they were of better quality. The people initially preferred indian goods but eventually due to their cheap rates British goods became popular.

The british used to vuy raw materials from India at cgeap rates. Then transport these to England, make goods there , transport them back and sell them at high rates here. Basically they gained control of the Indian market by selling goods made up of raw materials in India only!

This way slowly the Indian people got attracted towards British goods and the Undian industry declined .
