Swaraj was the term which meant different things to different people.
(i) Middle class- Spreading education and a share in the administration was swaraj for them.
(ii) Peasants - Reduction of land revenue was swaraj for small peasants.
(iii) Tribals- Getting their traditional rights over forests were swaraj for the tribals living near forests.
(iv) Plantation workers- To move independently in and out of the tea garden was swaraj for them.
