in a air-proof tube Thomson lighted cathode ray and saw it is bending to the positive plate and if a light weighted fan is took in the middle , then it begins to turn......thus he supposed that cathode ray consists of light weighted particles..... he called it negetrons



after a few years , george stoni named the particles as electrons
