as sinhala was made the official language disregarding tamil
preferential policies favoured sinhala speakers for governmental jobs, education etc
the new constitution stipulated to protect and foster buddhismbecause the minorities interests not valued and thus according to the Prudential reason why power sharing is important not sharing power causes social conflicts.does in Sri Lanka the Tamil are the minority communities and their interest and their demands were not met.Where as Sinhala community are relatively in majorit due to more importance given to Sinhala community Tamil community people felt alienated.does the relationships between Sri Lankan Sinhala and Tamil strained overtime..hope it helps and please mark mine the brain liest
