Actually, poems, paintings and folk songs, stories contributed the most in upsurging the feeling of nationalism. Abanindranath Tagore(created the first painting of “Bharat Mata”), Bankim Chandra who wrote the poem Vande mataram, the stories of brave kings and conquerors made people feel great about their country, and lit the feeling of patriotism among themselves. Whereas novels on the other hand were not so preferred by people as it was very expensive ( the novels were written manually, as printing was not yet introduced). So nationalism was enhanced in this way.
