Hunter-Gatherer Groups

The ancient hunter-gatherers lived in small groups, normally of about ten or twelve adults plus children. They were regularly on the move, searching for nuts, berries and other plants (which usually provided most of their nutrition) and following the wild animals which the males hunted for meat.

Pretty much constantly on the move with the seasons. As fall started, they were moving south. Spring, they were moving north.

As hunter/gatherers, they always moved as the animals they eat moved.

They couldn't survive winter up the north. They didn't have any big food storage. They never had more than a few days food stored. They never had a day off, they were gathering and hunting every day. They never stopped anywhere more than maybe a week, or two. Maybe a month.

That even applies for the ‘caveman'. They were never in those caves for a long straight period of time, but did live in them for a few days, weeks, or maybe a month once or twice a year for hundreds or thousands of years. All the evidence they lived anywhere else but the caves was washed away by time, but the evidence in the caves was saved from the effects of time.
